Sneak Peek: A Royal Wedding

Dave and I are very excited about this post! I know we need to get more weddings up on the blog and we have so many beautiful wedding to post. We wanted to post this awesome sneak peek for you all first. Our couple Jasmine and Dave’s Royal York Hotel wedding, located here in Toronto, will have a double page feature in the upcoming issue of Wedding Bells Magazine! We’re also very excited to get the gorgeous shots of their wedding on the blog once the magazine hits the shelves.

Their wedding was even nick-named The Royal Wedding by their amazing wedding planner Cynthia Martyn, who made it all come together.  Fuscia Designs did a stunning job on the decor and are always such a pleasure to work with. Everything about Jasmine and Dave’s wedding was breath-taking, including the 5 foot tall gloriously designed Caketress wedding cake.

With all of this beauty, Dave and I were so honoured to be there to photograph all of the hard work and gorgeous detail. Stay tuned to the blog for the photographs of Jasmine and Dave’s stunning wedding day!

Joelle Todd’s Destination Wedding, Playa del Carmen Mexico

Hey Everyone! After a looong break from blogging we’re back :) I know it may appear that things have slowed down around here because we haven’t been blogging like we usually do, but it’s quite the contrary! We’ve been insanely busy with weddings and engagement shoots and we were also very busy shooting the Bullfrog Power ad campaign (yey… for all of you fellow greenies out there).  Speaking of busy, this season we shot 10 destination weddings! We’re really getting to be expert destination wedding photographers with all of the destination shooting we do. Joelle and Todd, an amazing couple from the USA fell in love with our work and whisked us away to document their amazing five star wedding at The Occidental Royal Hideaway in Playa del Carmen Mexico.

The whole week away was amazing! Every detail was perfect. I loved Joelle’s floral’s, vintage inspired wedding gowns and of course (a-hem) that incredible engagement ring seen above. Can you believe how beautiful that engagement ring is… Good work Todd! We have to say we enjoyed every moment. Joelle and Todd really treated us like we were a part of their wedding and were always warm and welcoming. Wedding photography is really an intimate thing. You’re getting up-close and personal on one of the most emotional, joyful days of a persons life so you really need to get to know your subjects in order to create something beautiful for them.

Joelle and Todd really looked so amazing on their wedding day! They were so happy and you can see the joy in their expression. The outdoor ceremony took place on the rooftop terrace overlooking the turquoise sea. The Royal Hideaway must be the best place for a destination wedding in Mexico. We love the Riviera Maya, it’s absolutely breathtaking!

What a gorgeous couple, and Playa del Carmen Mexico has to be the perfect spot for a destination wedding!!

During cocktail hour we took a quick stroll on the beach to give Joelle and Todd a moment relax and be together!

The Occidental Royal Hideaway is one of the prettiest resorts we’ve ever had the pleasure to photograph. Look at the beautiful fountains and all of the beautiful landscaping as our backdrop! It makes for beautiful photographs, it also helps that Joelle is an absolutley stunning bride, doesn’t it ;)

It was so nice for Joelle and Todd to spend a little downtime together and soak in this very special moment before joining excited friends and family eager to congratulate the newlyweds!

What a picturesque spot for cocktail hour, wouldn’t you agree!

We also loved all of the vibrant reception details. The colours were so complimentary with the gorgeous Mexican landscapes.

What a night, filled with fun, food and fiestas!!

Joelle and Todd had the time of their lives! It was really nice that Joelle had another gorgeous wedding dress to slip in to later in the evening.

Thanks Joelle and Todd for choosing us to document your special time away in Mexico. We loved being a part of your day and getting to know your great friends and family! Congratulations to you both!

Graydon Hall Wedding Photography: Alison & Jason

Meet Alison and Jason. The super gorgeous couple we recently had the absolute pleasure to photograph. From our first meeting we knew we were meant to photograph their wedding. We just clicked, and we wanted to give our heart and soul to them on their wedding day, and that we did.

We also love Graydon Hall as a wedding reception venue located here in Toronto. We’ve been so lucky to shoot so many weddings there this year and always find it as visually stunning as it is charming.

I love these shots before the ceremony with Alison’s girls and especially this shot with her mom. Aren’t they adorable!

I love the look on this little guys face. Serious ring bearer determination!

Graydon Hall is the best, and with beautiful backdrops like this it adds elegance to every shot. Look at Alison’s mom looking so elated for her little girls big day!

The best ring bearer and flower girl ever! They got down the aisle without a hitch and looked super cute to boot!

Everyone’s breath was taken away as soon as they saw Alison in the doorway. What a stunningly beautiful bride. And such a proud father!

Although we were both shooting the ceremony below, we remotely triggered a camera from the balcony to capture the epic moment as Alison walked to her groom.

Look at how happy Jason is at the sight of his bride. You can see so much love, excitement and emotion in his eyes. It looks like he was dreaming of this moment for such a long time. What a beautiful moment.

The gardens at Graydon Hall are the perfect spot for an outdoor ceremony close to Toronto. Doesn’t the manor look so elegant in the background.

Such excitement to be finally man and wife! I love the energy in this shot!

Stealing a kiss after they say “I do”.

I shot this one at the same time as the one above. What can I say we love to get our angles!

Alison and Jason went inside for a quick moment to steal some time away together before the bridal session.

Don’t these guys look sharp! The bridal party added a lot of fun to our day, they all loved to joke around as much as Dave and I do.

We love our detail shots and we also love Pink Twig. They are an amazing floral team right here in Toronto and always do a bang up job! We caught Amy by surprise while she was working her magic. Great job guys!!

The first dance took place on the terrace as they were both serenaded. Such a lovely spot for a wedding.

After the first dance the guests were seated for a delicious dinner. I have to tell you it was fabulous, the chefs Graydon Hall hit it out of the park again!

During dinner the fun began. Alison and Jason’s MC was hilarious and came complete with pie charts, graphs and Alison and Jason Barbie dolls. I mean an Alison Barbie and Jason Ken doll… I think, lol!

After sunset we took a stroll outside and grabbed a shot with all of the glowing paper lanterns. Just magical isn’t it :)

Thanks so much to Alison and Jason for choosing us to photograph your wedding day. We loved every minute of it and hope you enjoyed your honeymoon away! Congratulations guys!

Park Hyatt Toronto Wedding

I am so thrilled to be posting this wedding. Not only because we are super behind on blogging (sorry about that) but because we LOVE these guys! Meet Michele and Theo, our gorgeous, happy, fun-loving couple that made our photography day feel more like an adventure and never once felt like work!

Michele and Theo had every little last detail done to perfection. From the stunning Tiffany & Co. wedding bands and engagement ring to Michele’s vintage style Vera Wang gown and Prada shoes, this wedding was a feast for our photographic senses :)

Not only were the details beautiful but meaningful as well. I love that they had their nicknames for each other engraved into their wedding bands and that Michele got her craft on and made her bouquets from scratch (how creative)! Let’s not forget the incredible, stunning Rolex watch (and pair of socks to ward off cold feet) that Theo received from Michele as a wedding day gift! Trust me Michele… there was never any thought of cold feet for Theo on the big day!

I loved this shot above of Michele and her mom as she placed the Tiffany’s necklace around Michele’s neck. And this one of all the girls together before the ceremony.

I think Michele’s dad is used to his girls fussing over him. He didn’t seem to mind one bit!

Michele and Theo Saw each other for the first time in the suite at The Park Hyatt Hotel, in Toronto. It was a very apparent these two are not only deeply in love but best friends!

What a stunning pair!

After the two had a chance to settle down from all of the first look excitement, we went down to do their Chinese Tea Ceremony. It was so much fun to capture all of the candid laughs and special moments between Michele and Theo’s family!

Right before the wedding ceremony, Michele’s twin sisters helped her with a few finishing touches to prep her for her walk down the aisle. The Park Hyatt has to be one of the best wedding locations in Toronto. It seriously has it all!

And what a stunning bride she was…. As she walked down the aisle she looked like she was floating in a dream. You can really see the love she holds for Theo.

After the ceremony we stole our couple away for a moment and created this beautiful shot. I love this image.

Once we gathered together the wedding party we walked around the streets of Toronto on a hunt for a perfect wedding photography location :) We didn’t have to look far, the strong wind made even these candid shots so dramatic and fun!

Ok, I mentioned before how well Dave and I got along with Michele and Theo… Seriously, I think I had to take a few breathers from all of the laughing we were doing during the bridal session. As I was posing and setting up this dramatic shot with the building, I told Theo to just give me “majestic”… he replied, “I don’t know how to look majestic.”  I told him “You know be like the Lion King! Think Mustafa!”  LOL, I’m not sure where that came from, but this shot below is now officially named Lion King! I think Theo does a pretty good Mustafa, don’t you…

I love this shot below, it was such a pretty little church we found while wandering the streets together, and close to the Park Hyatt too!

I really LOVE this shot in the glass. Don’t you love the movement in this shot and her veil looks so dreamy!

When we got back from our photo shoot, Michele and her dad were practicing their father/daughter dance while I was shooting room details. Michele’s whole family is so much fun, her dad even asked me for a dance too!

We even had some amazing entertainment to photograph as well. Check out the Chinese Lion Dance they had during the wedding reception. Pretty cool huh?!

When Michele came back from wedding dress change #2 of 3, the guests sang them into a big kiss! You guys are too cute!

The speeches and hilarious videos kept everyone entertained during the reception, including the bride and groom!

Awww, this is why we love our job!

Here is a shot of our yummy dessert :) Just a perfect way to top off an AMAZING dinner at The Park Hyatt. I really mean it when I say the food was off the charts delicious. Great job Park Hyatt!!

The details, food, fun, entertainment and emotion made this wedding one we’ll always remember. Thanks so much to Michele and Theo for truly treating us as wedding guests on your special day. Your willingness to trust our vision and your natural sense of fun really came through in the images. Thanks for having us and happy honeymoon!!

A Gorgeous Wedding at Miller Lash House

I’m so excited to be sharing an amazing wedding with you today. Shawn & Kimberley’s wedding took place at the very tranquil and relaxed Miller Lash House – the former home of the University of Toronto’s Dean & his family. Charlotte and I have photographed 4 weddings there this Summer and love it every time!

The day began with Charlotte and I photographing the bride and groom finalizing their preparations… I love the energy in this photo of Kimberley putting on her gown.

Meanwhile I was off shooting the guys 2 rooms away. They were looking rather dapper.

Kimberley & Shawn were lucky to have such a beautiful day for their outdoor wedding ceremony… don’t these hanging orchids look awesome? Another great job by Fuscia Designs!

I have to send a shout out to Gord Kushner, the celebrant for their wedding. We have the fortune to work with Gord quite often and he’s a great guy – always upbeat and in tune with the day.

This next shot is Shawn breaking the glass, everyone was so happy, what a great moment.

After the ceremony we whisked the bride and groom away for some intimate wedding photos.

We found a really cool patch of woodlands that we were able to sneak into and grab some romantic images… Don’t you just love the light in this photo?!

Now that’s one sexy shot!

After some quiet time together we met up with the wedding party to get some shots of everyone hanging out.

Kimberley and her bridesmaids all looked absolutely incredible…

… and the guys didn’t look too shabby themselves!

One of the ring bearer’s was having his birthday on the same day of the wedding and was lucky enough to get his very own cake! Boy did he enjoy eating it!

The reception was held in the marquee tent and was full of the most exquisite details.

Kimberley and Shawn timed their first dance to perfection, with sunlight streaming through the open sides of the tent and catching them in the afternoon glow.

As is always the case when clients hire Marigolds and Onions to cater the food the dining experience was INCREDIBLE.

The cake was as delicious as it looks!

The planning and attention to detail in the reception decor was entirely due to Kimberley’s incredible eye for details. Tamara & Kevin of Fuscia Designs did and amazing job helping her bring her dream to reality with their floral design. You will also see their work in an upcoming post from Jasmine and David’s Royal York wedding. And lets not forget the amazing wedding planner and make up artist, Melissa Andre from Celebrate Beauty! Great work everyone :)

Possibly the funniest part of the reception was the speeches… both Shawn and Kimberley have a very close knit group of family and friends around them which always makes for hilarity during toasts.

As is always the case.. the Hora proved to be a barrel of laughs!!!

What an amazing day! Thanks so much to Kim and Shawn, we loved coming along for your special day. Thanks for everything and enjoy your honeymoon :)

A Casa Loma Wedding

First things first, this blog post is going to be a biggy!! So get ready for one gorgeous wedding at one of Toronto’s most elegant wedding locations, Casa Loma.

Some of you may recognize Dan & Melissa’s Muskoka engagement session on the blog – so you can likely guess that their wedding was going to be pretty glamorous!

When we arrived at Melissa’s parents house we we’re led to one of the the bedrooms to see her vintage gown hanging by the window.. a pretty breath taking first impression. When I say this gown is vintage, it’s not trying to be vintage, it’s literally from 1958… just like the Bentley Melissa rode to her wedding ceremony. She picked up this whimsical gown in Toronto’s Yorkville shopping district.

Look at this amazing shoes to match Melissa’s vintage gown. They are limited edition, hand made shoes… Pretty sweet.

Melissa’s mother, Vinette was close at hand throughout the day to help her daughter with her preparations. Their relationship was obviously very close.

As Melissa finished getting dressed we couldn’t help but think she looked a lot like a princess.

The next photo of the bride leaving for the wedding ceremony is of my favourites from the wedding day. Charlotte always seems to get the most dramatic shots!

Charlotte yet again rocked one of the most dramatic and bold images as Melissa was helped out of the Bentley by her brides maids.. Don’t you love this angle on Casa Loma?! So cool.

Before heading inside to prepare for the ceremony we took a few photos of Melissa and her stunning bridesmaids… I love how perfectly their dresses tie in with the wedding. So glamorous.

This next shot had such a photo-journalistic feel and is such a dramatic angle from Casa Loma’s front entrance. Tying the knot in a real castle is so romantic don’t you think?

Melissa waited in the bridal suite as the guests arrived and were seated in Casa Loma’s Conservatory.

The flower girls were so cute walking down the aisle.

Love these two images as Dan and Melissa see each other for the first time.

The light in the Conservatory was soft, romantic and perfect for photographs. You just can’t beat an amazing venue like Casa Loma.

After a heartfelt ceremony in the Conservatory the couple went outside and to everybody’s surprise they released some beautiful doves!

We had a chance to get some really fun wedding party photos before rolling into a short session with the bride and groom.

The Casa Loma grounds provide such an elegant and romantic setting for wedding photography… especially when the couple are feeling the love like Dan and Melissa :)

The wedding reception took place in the Casa Loma Library. As you can see the details were glamorous yet understated and suited the historical room beautifully.

As the wedding party entered the library for the reception Dan and Melissa had their first dance as man and wife… and it was magical.

The father daughter dance started with a slow waltz and pretty quickly turned into a remix! Hilarious : )

The dance floor opened and the party was in full swing by the time we left. Congratulations Dan & Melissa – We’re so glad you had us along to capture your special day!
