Beautiful Persian Wedding at The Manor in Kettleby

Some of you may remember Sara & Hami’s gorgeous engagement session we photographed at one of our favourite spots, The Berkeley Church, Toronto. We had so much fun that day, playing around and utilizing all of the cool shooting locations and discovering new ones we hadn’t seen before. No wonder they had hundreds of “keepers” from the shoot. They’re even ordering a stunning engagement album to showcase all of their awesome images!!

In the morning I met Sara at the Hilton Suites downtown Toronto to take some shots of her getting ready with her girls. She looked so glamorous even before she put on her opulent Maggie Soterro wedding gown. Sara had to be one of the prettiest brides I had ever seen- she just looked gorgeous! When the suite full of Sara’s friends and family were ready to go we went down into the lobby where the anticipation was building!! Hami was waiting downstairs for his “First Look” of his beautiful bride to be. When he saw her for the first time you could tell he was awe-struck and nothing but smiles!

We took them out in a bit of wedding day rain for a few shots with their wedding umbrellas, the rain really added to the romance. We then headed to the limo for some more shots at Victoria College, another great location for wedding photos right here in Toronto! We played around and had a good time with the bridal party and gave the two soon to be newlyweds a bit of time alone before the ceremony to enjoy some relaxing time together.

We arrived at The Manor in Kettleby unsure what the weather might bring. It was cloudy, sunny, rainy and combination of the three while we were shooting. It was actually quite nice to have a bit of overcast and little drops of rain because it gave the girls an excuse to use the cute little paper umbrellas they had with them and the cloud created a nice even glow to the photographs. As Sara walked down the aisle, Hami felt the same anticipation as before but was lucky enough to experience it now for the second time!! How awesome is that?! Dave and I have officially decided that we want to have a “First Look” at our wedding and enjoy being a part of the rest of the wedding with our guests!

They ended the ceremony by releasing some vibrant Monarch Butterflies that fluttered around and kept flying over and landing on Sara like they knew she was the bride.

The ceremony was so beautiful. If you haven’t been to a Persian wedding before it really is a great experience. It’s a night filled with beauty, colour, laughing, dancing and just a genuine celebration of the couples love for one another. As soon as the music starts everyone, grandma’s, grandpa’s, kids, aunties and uncles, yes everyone hits dance floor with the couple. It is sooooo much fun, everyone is having a blast and the tables are empty right up until the food is served, of course!! :)

Sara and her wedding planner worked very hard to create the dream wedding decor. Sara wanted a red wedding with fresh red roses and candles, it looked visually stunning in the photographs. Sara and Hami also loved a shot of the two of them against a red wall from their engagement shoot and had it made into a gorgeous panorama canvas to go with the theme from their wedding day… Awesome idea guys!

Dave and I were stoked to be a part of such a fabulous time in their lives! At the end of a very long shooting day we were a bit tired but so stoked to have sooo many great shots from the wedding. Just like the engagement session, these guys rocked it and had so many great images from their day.

Alain & Evelyn’s Miller Lash Wedding

WE LOVE OUR JOBS.

Charlotte and I have just got back from an incredible wedding. It was the perfect day… We arrived and there was excitement in the air. Both the ceremony and reception was full of caring words, laughter and intimate moments.

The event took place as the stunning Miller Lash House, on the grounds of the University of Toronto’s Scarborough campus. We’ve photographed weddings there several times and they’re always wonderful affairs. The house sits atop a garden covered hill and is surrounded by forest and expansive fields.

Alain & Evelyn asked us to prepare a slide show of the wedding images to present after their dessert had been served. We jumped at the opportunity and as always loved being able to enjoy the day with the bride, groom and their family and friends.

Below is the slide show we presented to them, with the addition of their first dance which took place after the slide show was presented.

Here are some of the best images from the day. We hope you enjoy them.

Al & Evelyn’s Engagement Session at the Bluffs

engagement-pictures-03

Charlotte and I are excited to be photographing the wedding of Evelyn and Alain this evening at Miller Lash House. We did their engagement pictures earlier this week after they’d arrived in town from Edmonton.

We enjoyed a couple of hours relaxing together, checking out some of the local landmarks before heading down to Bluffers Park for a splash in the water.

They’ve opted to have a Same Day Slideshow at their wedding tonight, which is always an amazing gift to themselves and their guests… So we thought we’d pop a couple of the engagement images in at the start.

Very much looking forward to seeing you guys in a few hours!

Dave & Christina at the Brickworks

engagement-pictures-toronto-04

Every engagement session is different. We believe it should be as unique as the couples we photograph.

As we meet with a couple and discover where they are on their journey together we are able to participate in that journey – albeit briefly. We love giving our soon to be married couples a few hours of stillness amidst all the chaos that comes with planning a wedding. Priceless uninterrupted time to just be- together.

Dave and Christina were married this past weekend – it was a wonderful day, with the rain holding off until 10 minutes after the reception began. The universe couldn’t have planned it better for this sweet couple. We’ll definitely blog the wedding images soon too :)

On Monday we got together to create a set of engagement pictures. They had only just arrived in Toronto as Dave finished his semester of medical school on the gorgeous tropical island of Saba. We met up at the Brickworks for the shoot and they began an evening of just being together. The shoot was relaxed, casual and full of candid moments.

As two busy people planning a wedding ourselves, it’s easy to see that life can get ahead of you fast. Before you know it, there hasn’t been a slow time where you’ve had the chance to hold, caress and even look into the eyes of your partner. Do you know what I’m talking about?

While I can’t speak for Dave and Christina, I got the distinct feeling that with only days to go before their wedding, having the chance to really breath one another in… to hold each other, to laugh together and to just have an excuse to be together was just what the doctor ordered.

After a stroll among the ponds that hide behind the famous brickworks, we jumped into our cars and drove downtown to Toronto’s Kensington Market – where Dave and Christina first fell in love. You see, Dave decided to make a good impression on his first date, he wanted to cook an amazingly delicious meal for Christina. So they headed down to Kensington and shopped for fresh produce to cook up a storm. Evidently, it worked well!

Rachel and Sonny’s Stunning Indian Wedding Slideshow

I know we’re a few blog posts behind and readers have been emailing us excited to see the posts from our AWESOME weddings we’ve been lucky enough to photograph this summer. They have been especially anticipating the wedding we photographed in India a few weeks back. We’ll post some pics soon…  There are just SOOOO many amazing images from the weddings this summer and we have to narrow the post down to about 10 shots! Hard work with all of the cute couples we’ve had ;) If you’ve been reading the blog lately you’ll remember the last post we wrote about Rachel and Sonny’s engagement shoot in Oakville. They just had their beautiful Indian wedding this Saturday and it was a spectacular event!

This year it seems that almost all of our clients have been really excited to get a Same Day Wedding Sideshow to present at the reception. It’s such an amazing thing for newlyweds to experience all of the parts of the day they didn’t get to see during the reception. We love the way it makes our clients feel and it has soo much power and emotion when it’s presented on the day they’re married. What an incredible job we have photographing some of the most meaningful moments of a couples live and documenting it forever. We truly love what we do!

Rachel and Sonny had such a gorgeous Sikh wedding. All of the vibrant colours, dancing, music, and love from family and friends made for one incredible wedding experience. Sonny was looking rather charming when he arrived to the temple on horseback. Little Rylie, their five year old daughter, was ecstatic to ride along with Sonny to meet Rachel at the temple. You could tell that she felt like a little movie star up there as she waved and giggled at the crowd! She was so adorable!!

Rachel waited in the limo as Sonny arrived and when it was time for her to walk down the aisle she looked absolutely gorgeous!!! She took our breath away with her beauty, what a stunning bride.

Here is what we presented at the reception. It was so nice to be able to share these images with Rachel and Sonny so soon after the ceremony. We know how much these images will mean to them through out their lives and we were so happy that we could be there to enjoy their day with them! Thanks Rachel, Sonny and little Rylie!!!

Greg & Andrea’s E-Shoot

Being a photographer is my dream job. Every time we go out to a shoot, it’s to create art – heirlooms – momentous of our client’s love for one another.

The relationship between each couple we have the fortune to photograph is different. Some couples are quiet, relaxed and subdued together, others spend almost an entire engagement session laughing, joking, kissing and cuddling. Other times, I can see in couples a delight to be together that is far more significant than what they say or do.

It’s during sessions like these that I fall more in love with my darling fiance as well. Seeing peoples expressions of affection and love toward one another is a powerful thing. As photographers, we’re invited by the couple to witness these shared moments and participate in the relationship – sometimes for moments, sometimes for the rest of their lives.

When Greg contacted us, he had just asked his dream girl to marry him, and not surprisingly he wanted to record the way they were both feeling! Photography is a powerful way to do this.

During the planning of their session, Greg described the way he would like the session to be – relaxed, not overly romanticized and fashionable, with an edge. Sounded good to us!

The session began overlooking Lake Ontario on the Humber Bay Bridge. We did some pretty cool pics using off camera light to create a fashion look (it’s called cross lighting if you’re interested)

Don’t you just love this candid of them during the set up?

As sunset approached, we decided to head to a newly discovered – and quickly becoming favourite – location of mine… It’s the abandoned headquarters of Kodak Canada. Greg and Andrea had a quick change of wardrobe and we began shooting as the sun was hitting the horizon. Ahhhh, Magic Hour. This is one of my favourite photos of the day… Feels like it could be straight out of Vanity Fair, no?

I love the energy in the picture below… can’t you just feel the love between them?

We’ve just arrived on Naxos, one of the Greek Islands – lovely day here – we’re about to head out for a swim… We’ll have some more blog posts up soon.. Paris was amazing!!! Will share that with you asap and catch you up on our last few weddings – including India!
