Sara & Hami’s Amazing EShoot

Oh my goodness, I can’t believe how excited I am about this shoot! I’m seriously in the middle of packing for Ankush & Lina’s wedding in India tomorrow and writing this blog post at the same time. We’ll be in New Delhi this week on an awesome adventure shooting their grand and incredible Indian wedding! When I saw the amazing photos from this shoot I could NOT wait to blog it. Hold on to your seats, here’s Sara and Hami’s engagement shoot!

I LOVE, love, love couples that are in love! It’s the kind of love when you just can’t stop smiling for ear to ear. When you can tell that when they look at each other that there isn’t anywhere on this planet that they’d rather be than together. Sara & Hami are one of these head over heels, hot for each other in love couples that we just adore! We felt so privileged to be the photographers to capture their love with our lenses.

When we met Sara and Hami for the first time to chat about their dream wedding photography coverage, I couldn’t get over how stunningly gorgeous Sara was (Hami’s cute too of course ;) ). She has these gorgeous big brown eyes, endless bouncy curls and a beautiful personality to match. She was definitely going to be one beautiful bride.

As we were chatting Sara mentioned that she enjoys Salsa dancing. Dave and I kept that in the back of our memory for almost a year and had to get them to show us a few moves for the engagement shoot. Boy, can these two move!!

We love the Berkeley Church and so do many of our clients. They check out the shots on our blog from our wedding photography workshops here in Toronto and they instantly fall in love with all of the different backdrops the Berkeley Church has to offer. Sara and Hami thought it would be a perfect spot for their engagement pictures and they were right! They have soooo many amazing photos from the shoot that we are now doing some canvases and an A-Mazing engagement album for them as well! It’s going to be awesome!!

The Berkeley Church was awesome!! With little winding pathways and streams, blue, red and exposed brick walls, it was an endless source of shooting locations.

I just loved it when these guys changed into their more formal, evening wear. Sara was wearing this stunning gold dress and Hami looked handsome and charming in his suit. We took them away to a little hidden area in the church to grab a few shots of them playing and sneaking a kiss in here and there. Later when we looked back at the images, we couldn’t believe how many of the shots turned out absolutely perfect… not a hair out of place on either of them :) We loved all the pictures so much we couldn’t decide so we ended up making it into a sequence of our favourites!

Can you believe that this is the end of the shoot?! They still looked like movie stars even after all of the dancing, kissing, modeling and posing they did for us.

Ahhh, a couple more of my faves, this has to be one of the best poses from the engagement shoot. I don’t think this shoot could have turned out any better if we had hired professional models! You guys rocked this shoot, amazing work you two! We can’t wait to photograph your gorgeous wedding this summer, stay tuned to the blog for Sara and Hami’s wedding at The Manor in Kettleby… coming soon!

Bryan & Allison’s ~ Four Seasons of Love

One of the best things about our job as wedding photographers is when we’re recognized by our peers. Dave and I love teaching and mentoring in our photography workshops but when other wedding photographers hire us to shoot their weddings it really makes us feel great about what we do. We always put our heart and soul into our work and our life truly consists of eat, sleep, shoot – not because we have to but because we LOVE it!

When Bryan Caporicci and his fiance Allison (or Al as he affectionately calls her) stepped into our studio for the first time we hit it off immediately! Bryan is a wedding photographer and produces some gorgeous work. He is also a teacher and educator in the photography biz. He has this incredible sense of humour and kept us chuckling throughout the meeting.

Al is a classic beauty and has the sweetest personality. Al and I chatted all about her details and their wedding day, she is so sweet I could just talk to her all day about her wedding plans! When we started bouncing around ideas for the engagement shoot Dave mentioned that maybe a four seasons shoot would be cool and they were in! Even though winter time shoots are chillllly, the landscapes looks so amazing this time of year. We headed to Blue Mountain for the shoot – the same place Bryan had popped the question only weeks ago :) . We walked around the resort and shot away. Even with the chilly winter weather we still had a fabulous time.

a terrifying experience!

The great thing about being friends with other photographers is that they always have their cameras with them, they looove to take photographs and they always need subjects! Bryan brought along his camera gear and grabbed some shots of Dave and I as we went from location to location. We loved the shots he took of us, they were amazing. We took a few warm up breaks along the way and defrosted with some yummy latte’s. Al was so cute and made a perfect cinnamon heart with her latte foam. Our day of shooting soon turned into a night shoot, thank goodness for video lights! Even with the drop in temperature we loved the ambiance of the twinkling lights in the distance, it was really beautiful and romantic. We love night shoots!

When we wrapped we were pretty tired, but so satisfied with shoot. We had so much fun with these guys we really did lose track of time. Dave and I went back to our chalet and warmed up by the toasty fire with some hot chocolate. Our two little doggies curled up with us for an episode of Heroes. I guess that’s one of the great parts of winter, warming up by the fireplace after a fun day in the snow.

Steve & Anna’s EShoot

While away in the Mayan Riviera for Steve and Anna’s destination wedding we thought it would be a little fun to go into Playa del Carmen for engagement shoot of the happy couple. Before they said their vows, they wanted to have a really fun and relaxed shoot of them just being them!

We walked along the sandy, white beach towards the market. The way the sunset reflected on the water was just incredible. It looked like this amazing golden/pinkish  colour, so much fun to photograph.

Once we hit the streets of Playa del Carmen, we just hung back and let these two relax and enjoy the time together like they were on a night on the town!

Here’s one of my favourites!! Steve and Anna just having a good time and making each other laugh. Hmmm, I wonder why they didn’t end up taking the hat’s back to Canada, I guess sombreros are soooo last season.

These lights were so beautiful, they just lit up the street. I was so tempted to fill a suitcase full of them and take them back to Toronto, but Dave reminded me that decorating the house in glowing gourds might not go with the furniture :) . That’s ok, they were still pretty to look at.

Thanks again to Steve and Anna for having us along for your fabulous wedding. Congratulations!!

Jane & Login’s Engagement Session in Allan Gardens

One of the things that we love is receiving client referrals. It’s the greatest compliment when our past clients love our work enough to pass the word along to friends & family. Jasmine and Abby are one of those couples – we’ve already been booked by several of their friends.

engagement-photography-allan gardens, toronto

After shooting their beautiful (and very big) Indian wedding at Le Jardin last October, we couldn’t wait to shoot their good friends, Jane & Login. When we met with Jane & Login to chat about their day, one of the thing that really excited all of us was the engagement shoot. These guys are so cool and down to earth. We wanted to create something really unique to symbolize their love for one another.

Engagement Photo by Charlotte Leonard

We got to chatting and thought it’d be fun to do their engagement pictures in the Winter. Although Winter shoots are not as common, there’s something about the fluffy, white snow on the ground and the pale blue sky that adds a special feeling of romance to the photography.

the happy couple inside allan gardens

We began the shoot in the beautiful Allan Gardens – one of downtown Toronto’s best photography locations. There are several areas within the greenhouse, ranging from desert plans through tropical and temperate areas, so there’s ample locations to get a variety of background. Combine that with the diffused light coming through the glass ceiling and an array of rare and exotic plants and you’re in photography heaven :)

As I’m sure you’ll agree, Jane looked radiant, and Login was looking rather dapper himself!

As Charlotte was setting up an outdoor shot of the couple, she asked me to help her by providing some movie snow. So I picked up a nice big handful, and when she gave me the go, I threw it in the air…. may aim was a little off and Login got a good amount directly on his jacket!!! We all had a good laugh out of it and it did make for a funny sequence of shots ;)

There was a cute stone church on the corner of the property, so we wandered over and took a few shots together… The weather was pretty chilly, but they were both troopers and hung out long enough to get some really cool shots.

I think this shot Charlotte got was one of the best photos of the day… how cool is this pic…

Thanks for the great shoot guys – we can’t wait for your wedding day!

Jasmine & Louis Engagement Photography

Many many moons ago I first met Jasmine… Grade 9 to be exact. We met when I moved to Perth with my family at age 13. So I’ve known Jas for more than half my life! Since then Jasmine has always been a friend.

So when Jasmine contacted me in February asking if I would be interested in flying “home” to Perth to shoot her wedding I was honoured and of course, very excited to be asked. Since then, Charlotte and I have come to know Jasmine and Louis via Skype chats on several occasions. Louis and Jasmine have been living abroad like myself for some time – they have made the Cayman Islands their home.

We arrived at Jasmine’s home last night, and sat down for a chat and to go over the finer details of their impending wedding. They’re going to be married at one of Perth’s most beautiful locations – UWA (or The University of Western Australia for those foreigners reading this!). It’s a beautiful campus, rich in historic buildings and horticulturally rich gardens. They are to be married in the Sunken Gardens, which is an amphitheatre, surrounded by large peppermint trees, figs and limestone walls, and skirted by an art gallery and museum. I digress, but we’ll look forward to sharing the photos with you soon!

For the engagement session, Jasmine and Louis wanted to have a relaxed, artistic approach to their shoot, which suits Charlotte and I to a tee. We love the shots we go and wanted to share these favourites with you. For those Perth locals, we did the shoot just south of Sorrento Quay – not sure of the specific beaches name.

We hope you enjoy the images…

Hong Kong Engagement Shoot

As a part of my morning routine, one of the things that I really looove doing is going through the days new wedding photography inquiries! Although referrals are still our number 1 source of new clients, Google and the Bloggers Choice Awards definitely helps new couples find us.

While returning inquiries, I came across Yanyan  & Clement, a cool couple living in Hong Kong, but getting married at The Doctors’ House in Kleinburg. After a few emails back and forth they’d booked us but wanted to do the engagement shoot before their wedding this February. So we all decided it was best to do the shoot in fabulous Hong Kong!! Dave and I had so many ideas and concepts for the shoot and were super stoked to be photographing them in Hong Kong.

We met Yanyan and Clement for the first time at the big clock tower overlooking the Hong Kong harbour. They were the gorgeous, well dressed couple with the big smiles and warm welcome :) We told them we’d be the ones with the giant cameras. I think it worked because the spotted us right away!

We took a look around the harbour and found some sweet spots to shoot. Dave and I have a real system going when we shoot together. We each take turns in posing and shooting, while the other will hold reflectors and off camera lights. We think it works pretty well for us, and we have a blast playing around with our clients.

Being at the harbour was perfect, massive fishing boats that looked like something out of Pirates of the Caribbean were floating by and created a really cool backdrop.

As the sun started to set and we lost light for a bit, Yanyan and Clement took us to Ye Shanghai before the night shoot began. The food was fabulous and we highly recommend it to anyone visiting Hong Kong.

Hong Kong is very famous for it’s spectacular laser show at 8:15. All of the buildings in the city take part in the show that is set to music for on lookers to enjoy. We thought it would be a great opportunity for us to get some killer shots of Yanyan and Clement with Hong Kong cityscape lit up across the water. It was a spectacular! Definitely something Dave and I will always remember.

Thanks so much to Yanyan and Clement for having us as your photographers in fabulous Hong Kong. We enjoyed every minute of it and cannot wait to shoot your beautiful winter wedding in February.

Stayed tuned to the blog for Jasmine & Louis’ wedding later this month in Perth, Australia.
