Engagement photos are the best. For the couples, yes, but for us too. We love when we get the chance to spend a couple of hours hanging out with clients, figuring out what they like to do together, discussing their story… you know, how they met, how they fell in love… what they do for fun.
The engagement shoot started off around a cool little marina we have here in Toronto. It gave our couple, Lauren and Adam a chance to relax together and spend a little time just being with each other!
As the sun started to go down we wanted to take a advantage of the twilight and into the dark for some sweet city by night photography!
I love this shot below, doesn’t it look like a volcano irrupting!
Charlotte and I try to mix up our locations all the time to keep things really fresh and fun. The Music Gardens is a location we’ve known about for a long time, but hadn’t actually got in there to do engagement pictures, so it was fun to get in there and play with the textures of the grass and the mixed light sources coming from the street lights as well as having the CN Tower in the background!
I love using the different lighting sources that are available by night… these two portraits were done using the overhead strip of lights and a rear lit poster.. fun

To wrap up the shoot I thought I might have a bit of fun and end the night shoot off right! Lauren and Adam, you guys were awesome- amazing job. We can’t wait to shoot you again this summer for your awesome wedding in the distillery district here in Toronto.
